Welcome to Asm86!
"Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If
that is granted, all else follows."
George Orwell, 'Nineteen Eighty-Four'
Welcome to the asm86 site. This site contains a tutorial for assembly programming for the ti86 graphing calculator from Texas Instruments. There is also an instruction reference containing a list of all the instructions for the ti86's CPU.
The author of this site approves of the AnyBrowser campaign, a campaign for non-browser specific html. I've tried as hard as possible to make this page standards compliant, if you notice any mistakes please notify me and I will fix them. Similarly if anything looks strange on your browser let me know so that I can change it. I've used CSS to make these pages easier to read (especially the tutorial - the style sheets really help) but if your browser doesn't support it don't worry! You should still be able to view these pages. They look fine on every browser I've tried, from the best available (Opera) to the nice and simple Lynx. I've also tried to keep images to a minimum, but where I have used them they're useful so I recommend turning images on if possible.

14th December 1999
More has been added to Section 5. I've now just got sound left to do, then I can write the next section (floating point? variables?).
10th December 1999
I've corrected a few minor typos. Also added a CalcOn Routine in response to all those ti83+ owners thinking they've got something fancy.
9th December 1999
I've added the first set of reference information - the ti86 Character Set. This has been requested by numerous people and the version in the assembly studio help file is wrong...

What's This About?
This site was originally created purely for a tutorial for ti86 assembly programming. As people requested information I added it until I decided to split the site up into the different sections. This site is continuously growing, the next updates seem likely to be something to do with floating point maths and possibly a fully commented example game. If you want to contribute to this site please do email me, I'm glad for any help I can get...
Other ti86 Sites
The links below take you to some other sites on the internet which contain information for ti86 calculators. If you'd like your site added mail me.
- guide.iwarp.com - another site with information to do with ti86 assembly programming. You really should visit this site if you want to know more about the ti86, especially floating point maths.
- ticalc.org - an extensive site containing many programs, especially games, for the ti86. Many of the games are open source, and are good learning material.
- acz.org - another project for various calculators and related products. One of their sites is 86central which contains more advanced information on assembly programming.
- Dimension TI - a site like ticalc.org but with less junk cluttering the screen.
- Texas Instruments - the manufacturers of the ti86 have graciously decided to provide us with minimal, incomplete and incorrect ti86 assembly documentation. Still, they did tell us what processor was in the calculator (almost).
